CLINICAL HYPNOSIS

Open the door to the confines of the sub-conscious mind and let Paula help you to relax and assist you to work on any concerns that you have in your life.

Hypnosis refers to a state or condition in which a person becomes highly responsive to suggestions.  The hypnotized individual seems to follow instructions in an uncritical, automatic fashion and attends closely only to those aspects of the environment made relevant by the hypnotist.  Memory and awareness of self can be altered by suggestions given to the hypnotized person.

What can hypnosis help with?

You will probably be amazed by just how many different issues hypnotherapy can help with.

Most people know that hypnosis can be helpful for stopping smoking and treating phobias.  However, you may be more surprised to find that it can help you to pass your driving test or become better at public speaking.   It can assist you with anxiety, sports, self-esteem, confidence, depression and so many other issues and improvements!

Everyone has experienced hypnotic trance states that occur naturally. For example, you are in a trance state when, while driving your car, you miss your exit because you are daydreaming. Similarly, you are in a trance state when you are so absorbed in a book, movie, or TV show that you fail to hear what others around you are saying.

As a professional hypnotherapist, I give you carefully worded instructions to follow with the aim of helping you enter into a state of deep relaxation and focused attention. For the hypnosis to be effective, you must cooperate and be a willing and active participant in the process.

Once you are in a hypnotic state, you are more suggestible to positive statements. By being in the hypnotic state of increased suggestibility, the mental clutter and negative thoughts that are prevalent in your conscious mind is cleared; this enables you to focus on the positive suggestions and be open to experiencing new perspectives and solutions to your challenge. When you are in the hypnotic state, you will be aware of everything that is going on, and you will be able to recall the work that we did when you emerge from hypnosis.

Typically, 4 to 6 hypnotherapy sessions are recommended to permanently effect the changes you want in your life. The work we do in each hypnotherapy session is different, and is always more powerful than the previous one! You get better and better with each hypnotherapy session, until you are completely healed.

You will also be taught self-hypnosis techniques so that you will be equipped to handle any challenges that you may encounter in the future by yourself.

Misconceptions of Hypnosis

Loss of Consciousness:
This is probably the most common misconception surrounding hypnosis.  Many believe that people who are hypnotized are unconscious.  This misunderstanding can be attributed directly to the stage hypnosis, and the way hypnosis has often been portrayeifilms anoTV.

Surrender of Will:
As hypnosis has been portrayed as a surrender of will, many members of the public believe that this is the case and that hypnosis makes an individual submit to the "power" of the hypnotist.  A hypnotized individual is always capable of making decisions at all times.

Weak Mindedness:
Some people believe that only fools can be hypnotized.  The truth is, because hypnosis requires concentration, the best clients are actually the more intelligent of the population.

Revelation of Secrets:
Some believe that while in hypnosis you can be forced to reveal secrets about yourself and others.  A client is aware of everything while being hypnotized, this surely could not happen.  People can talk if necessary, but can fib just as easily.

Fear of Not Being Revived:
There are some people who are afraid that once hypnotized, they will never come out of it.  Since the client actually induce the trance themselves, clients can readily revive themselves when necessary.
